We had the pleasure of Mike Taht's company last week. Mike is an incredible programmer. He's the only guy I know who has programmed something that flies in space.
We recorded some backing tracks for some of his songs, and on the way discussed changes that would improve Ardour's useability..Some stuff we discussed is not so easy to do, but half the battle is working out how the hell you get to the goalposts.
I've seen some odd complaints from people upgrading from 2.x to the shiny new 2.3.1 and wonder if the release notes from 2.1 have been missed. You should remove ardour2_ui.rc, ardour2_ui.conf and ardour.bindings from your ~/.ardour2 folder if you want to upgrade from 2.0.5 (or whatever your distro gave you last).. otherwise strange things may happen.
It rained for the entire week Mike was here, but when it finally stopped we noticed a waterfall that nobody had seen before. The beach had also changed completely.. rocks lying buried under the sand for decades were exposed again.
Sadly the waterfall is now a patch of wet on the cliff, but Mary grabbed a photo. What you can't see is the huge amount of spray coming out of the base.
